The apex court has given a sensational judgment regarding abortions. The Supreme Court has declared that all women have the right to abortion irrespective of their marital status.
The Supreme Court has declared that abortion should not be prevented on grounds of not being married. The highest court in the nation made these comments in respect to the Medical Termination of Pregnancy case.
The Supreme Court in its verdict has said that abortion is allowed for up to 24 weeks, according to the MTP act. It declared that every Indian woman has the right to choose what she likes. The court also made it clear that there is no rule that only married women should have sex. The court also made it clear that, even for a married woman, if she gets pregnant due to forced sex by her husband, she has the right to get aborted.
