Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 8 Wild Cheetahs in the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. It is a special occasion as it marked his birthday as well.

Modi first, released two Cheetahs into the park from enclosure No. 1, and about 70 meters away, he released another Cheetah from enclosure No. 2.

Nearly 8 decades after the Cheetah’s extinction in the nation, these 8 Cheetahs (5 Female and 3 Male) have been brought from Namibia as part of ‘Project Cheetah’. They were brought in a cargo aircraft in Gwalior as part of an inter-continental cheetah translocation project.

“On this historic day, I want to thank all the Indians and also the Government of Namibia,” Modi said after releasing Cheetahs into the Park.

Radio collars have been installed in all the Cheetahs to be monitored their location for 24 hours.
