In a major jolt to Congress, as many as 8 MLAs have left the party and joined Bharatiya Janatha Party today in Goa. Eight Goa Congress MLAs includes Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo, Rajesh Phaldesai, Kedar Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Aleixo Sequeira and Rudolf Fernandes.
After joining BJP, Michael Lobo said that they have changed the party to strengthen the hands of PM Modi and CM Pramod Sawant. Lobo then gave the statement, “Congress Chhodo, BJP ko jodo”. Earlier in the day, the 8 Congress MLAs met Pramos Sawant before joining the party.
These are the tough times for the Congress party as many seniors and young leaders from the party have left it citing various reasons including the likes of Kapil Sabil, Azad, etc.,
These Goa MLA resignations come at a time when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is continuing the Bharat Jodo Yatra to combat BJP.
