Visakhapatnam: State Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana, has warned that those who have illegally occupied government land in Andhra Pradesh must vacate it immediately, or the government will demolish the illegal structures and reclaim the land. During his visit to Visakhapatnam on August 27, the minister inspected a waste-to-energy plant at Kapuluppada.
Minister Narayana mentioned that the state received Rs 454 crores from the 15th Finance Commission for the first six months of 2023-2024. However, the YSRCP government diverted these funds, causing the central government to withhold an additional Rs 300 crores. The NDA government is working to secure these funds and plans to transfer them to municipalities within 15 days.
Minister Narayana also highlighted that due to the previous government’s failure to provide matching grants, Rs 295 crores allocated under Swachh Bharat were stalled. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has now ordered the release of the matching grants.
