The CBI officials have stated that the mastermind behind fake French visa documents who issued visas to hundreds of people with fake documents committed a huge fraud and has now fled from India. His parents were among those granted visas as well.

According to the complaint of the French Embassy, the CBI has registered an FIR against Shubham Shokeen and another former employee named Aarti Mandal in this case. From January 1, 2022, to May 6, 2022, there were allegations that visas were issued on the basis of fake documents without the knowledge of the head of the embassy visa department, taking Rs.50,000 per application. A total of 324 applications were dealt with by him.

After the registration of the case, CBI was on trail of Shokeen but later found out that he fled India before FIR was lodged by the agency last December.

During the search, the CBI officials seized the passports of Shokeen’s parents. Schengen visa stickers were affixed on the passports of his father Samunder Singh (Samunder Singh) and mother Anita Shokeen (Anita Shokeen). Schengen visa holders can seamlessly travel across 27 countries in Europe. The visa issued by the French Embassy is valid for five years from January 3, 2022, to January 2, 2027.
