The United States is all set to pass a bill that will bid goodbye to the Green Cards which is a permanent resident card issued to immigrants granting them permission to live in the United States permanently.
Now, the White House has supported Congress to pass legislation that will give equal access to green cards and will eliminate the per-country quota on green cards. This will allow employers to pick their employees on the basis of merit, not on the basis of their birthplace. The EAGLE act if passed will benefit thousands of immigrants, especially Indian Americans.
The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the EAGLE act this week. If the bill is passed, the plans are on to phase out the per-country caps over the course of nine years, and less populated countries are not excluded as the Act is implemented.
