Hyderabad: Cherlapally Railway Station’s second entry and a new railway terminal will be inaugurated on December 28. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, alongside Union Coal & Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, will officiate the event.
The station’s upgrade, which involved an investment of approximately Rs 413 crore, is expected to ease congestion at other key railway terminals in the region.

Cherlapally, located on the eastern side of Telangana’s capital, has seen rapid development in recent months, driven by growing demand from nearby IT companies and its proximity to the Outer Ring Road. The new terminal and second entry will alleviate pressure on the city’s primary stations – Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda – and cater to the rising passenger traffic in the tech city.
The newly constructed station features modern architecture with six booking counters, separate waiting rooms for ladies and gents, and an executive lounge. It also includes a cafeteria, restaurant, and restroom facilities on the first floor. For seamless connectivity, two spacious foot overbridges – 12 meters and 6 meters wide – have been built to facilitate smooth inter-platform movement.
In addition to Cherlapally, Lingampally station has also been developed as a major terminal to handle increased passenger demand.
