Since 1962, India has been celebrating the birthday of Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan as Teacher’s Day. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan served as the 1st Vice-President of India and also the 2nd President of India. He served as President from 13 May 1962 to 13 May 1967. He is also the recipient of Bharat Ratna the highest civilian award in India, in 1954.

Here’s an interesting scenario that happened during his tenure as the President of India. After Sarvepalli became the President he was invited by the Tamil Nadu government to honor him and also invited popular Tamil stars like Shivaji Ganeshan, P. Suseela, and Jayalalitha.

P. Suseela has sung the welcome song of Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan and Jayalalitha danced to the song. After the completion of the song Suseela, Jayalalitha, and Shivaji Ganeshan took the blessings of Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan. At that time, Radha Krishnan was mightily impressed with Suseela’s voice and blessed her by saying, “Amma, you have sung very well, there is sweetness in your voice.”

Even today, we term P. Suseela’s voice as sweeter than honey.
