Heavy rains are lashing the North Andhra districts due to the impact of a low-pressure system, causing water levels in reservoirs to reach dangerous levels.
In Anakapalli district, the Tandava reservoir has nearly reached its full capacity of 380 feet, with the current water level at 379 feet. Authorities have opened two gates, releasing 600 cusecs of water. Low-lying areas have been alerted, and traffic between Upparagudem and Gannavaram has come to a halt due to flooding.

In Alluri district, the Vattigedda reservoir is overflowing, disrupting movement in nearby areas.
The Jolaput reservoir is also at a critical level, releasing 23,000 cusecs of water. Heavy rain continues in Kakinada district, where the Eluru reservoir is full, and 9,500 cusecs of water are being discharged.
Schools in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and other affected districts have been closed as a precaution.
Meanwhile, the first flood warning remains in effect at Prakasam Barrage with water being released into the sea.
