Bhadrachalam: Bhadrachalam and nearby regions are facing a severe flood threat as the Godavari River rises dangerously.
Due to heavy inflows from the Indravati River, the water level in Bhadrachalam surged from 33 feet on Monday night to 48 feet by the evening of September 10. Authorities have issued a second flood warning and halted movement on the protective embankment.

In Mulugu district’s Kannaigudem area, the Godavari is flowing heavily near the Devadula Intake Well and Sammakka Sagar Barrage. At the Sammakka Sagar Barrage, the water inflow has reached over 10 lakh cusecs, and the same amount is being released downstream.
Floodwaters have also blocked key roads in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju district, cutting off access between Bhadrachalam and nearby areas like Kunavaram and VR Puram. Authorities have alerted residents of low-lying areas to remain cautious and prepare for possible evacuation.
