Amaravati: Senior IPS officer Dwaraka Thirumala Rao has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). Previously serving as the Director General of Police (DGP), he is set to retire on January 31 and will take over his new role post-retirement.
According to government sources, Thirumala Rao’s extensive experience in administration and law enforcement makes him a strong choice to lead APSRTC. His appointment is expected to enhance the efficiency of the state’s transport services.
A 1989 batch IPS officer, Thirumala Rao has held key positions, including Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Vijayawada Police Commissioner, and APSRTC MD in the past. Known for his discipline and leadership, he has played a significant role in various policing reforms and public safety measures.
Apart from his professional achievements, Thirumala Rao is an ardent follower of the Bhagavad Gita and is well regarded for his friendly nature with colleagues.
His appointment is expected to bring new strategies for improving APSRTC operations, public transportation infrastructure, and passenger safety in Andhra Pradesh.
