Visakhapatnam: Coromandel International Limited, a leading agri-solutions provider, has inaugurated its second Sulphur manufacturing plant at its Visakhapatnam facility, doubling its Bentonite Sulphur fertiliser production capacity. This expansion reinforces Coromandel’s commitment to Indian agriculture, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality Sulphur-based fertilisers to farmers.
Strengthening Specialty Nutrients Market
The Visakhapatnam facility, a wholly backward-integrated unit, currently produces 12 LMT of complex fertilisers, Phosphoric acid, and Sulphuric acid. With the addition of this new plant, the total Sulphur fertiliser production capacity at the site increases to 50,000 MT, supporting soil health and crop productivity.
Addressing Sulphur Deficiency in Indian Agriculture
Sulphur plays a crucial role in protein synthesis, enzyme function, and crop yield. However, intensive farming practices and declining soil organic matter have led to Sulphur deficiency across India. This expansion allows Coromandel to provide affordable, sustainable, and micronutrient-fortified Sulphur fertilisers to farmers, improving soil quality and boosting agricultural output.
Advanced Technology & Innovation
The new plant is equipped with German technology and capabilities to fortify Sulphur fertilisers with multiple micronutrients, addressing region-specific soil nutrient deficiencies. It also serves as a research and development hub for launching new Sulphur variants tailored to different crops and geographies.
