Bill introduced in the USA to declare Diwali a federal holiday

US lawmaker Grace Meng introduced legislation in the US Congress to make Diwali a federal holiday in the nation.
Grace Meng tweeted, “Today, I was proud to announce the introduction of the #Diwali Day Act, my bill that would make Diwali a federal holiday. Thank you to all my government colleagues and the many advocates who joined me to express their support.”
Diwali which is also called as Deepavali is one of the important festivals in India. It is called the festival of lights.
There are currently 11 federal holidays in the United States. January 1- New Year’s Day, January 16- Martin Luther King Jr. Day, February 20- President’s Day, May 29- Memorial Day, June 19- Juneteenth Day, July 4- Independence Day, September 4, Labor Day, October 9- Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples Day, November 11- Veterans Day, November 23- Thanksgiving, December 25- Christmas.. are celebrated by Americans as federal holidays.
It is indeed a special thing as an Indian festival will be having a federal holiday in the US.
