Sajeeb Wazed, advisor and son of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, condemned the violent protests gripping the country, expressing concern over the chaos and attacks on minorities. Speaking to a journalist, he lamented that after his mother’s development efforts, Bangladesh is now descending into anarchy akin to Pakistan.
Sajeeb Wazed criticized the interim government for excluding the Awami League and failing to maintain order. He highlighted Sheikh Hasina’s accomplishments, including modernizing and digitizing Bangladesh, and lamented the current state of the nation. Despite the turmoil, Sheikh Hasina, who is 77, has no plans to return to politics, focusing instead on her family.
Sajeeb Wazed expressed frustration over the destruction of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s statues and voiced his disappointment with the ungratefulness of the Bangladeshi people. Wazed stated that his family has faced multiple coups and is now stepping back, leaving Bangladesh to solve its own problems. He dismissed any future political ambitions and emphasized his family’s commitment to their own well-being.
