New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a state visit to Mauritius on March 11 and 12, 2025, to attend the island nation’s 57th National Day celebrations as the chief guest, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on March 7.

A contingent of Indian defense forces will also participate in the celebrations, reinforcing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. This marks the second time PM Modi has been honored with an invitation to Mauritius’ National Day celebrations, the first being in 2015.
The visit follows an official invitation from Mauritian Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, who expressed his pleasure in hosting Modi for the historic occasion. The Mauritian Parliament was informed on February 22 that PM Modi had accepted the invitation.
Last year, President Droupadi Murmu attended Mauritius’ National Day as the chief guest, further strengthening India-Mauritius relations. PM Modi’s visit is expected to bolster diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.
