“Japan will disappear”: Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s advisor issues a dire warning

The falling birthrate of Japan has prompted Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s aide Masaka Mori to issue a dire warning. Masaka Mori speaking in an interview said that the country will disappear if the falling birthrate is not controlled. The statement was given following the fact that Japan’s birth rate is one of the lowest in the world. In 2021, the fertility rate fell to 1.30.

Last year, about twice as many people died as were born in Japan. It is alarming with the fact that fewer than 800,000 births and about 1.58 million deaths happened in the time period. The population has fallen to 124.6 million, it reached 128 million in the year 2008 and the declining rate is alarming.

According to the news reports, the rising of children is difficult in Japan with its high cost of living, limited space, and lack of childcare support and hence many parents are limiting having kids.
