Neuralink, the brain-chip startup founded by Elon Musk, is gearing up for an extraordinary experiment. The company has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to develop a device aimed at restoring vision to individuals born blind.

The BlindSight device will connect to the optic nerve, allowing users to perceive their surroundings even without traditional eyesight. Initially, vision may be limited, but over time, users might experience enhanced visual capabilities. The device will also enable users to see wavelengths of light beyond the visible spectrum, such as infrared, without any discomfort.
Neuralink has been accelerating its brain-chip implant experiments and recently showcased a device in use by Nolan Arbagh, who suffered from a stroke. The experiment, which involved playing video games and chess, was streamed live on ‘X’, highlighting the potential of Neuralink’s technology. Musk has promised further advancements by the end of this year.
