HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on June 14 announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each of the families of three workers from Andhra Pradesh who were killed in the June 12 fire accident in Kuwait. The compensation will be disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The tragic incident claimed the lives of Molleti Satyanarayana and Meesala Eeswarudu from East Godavari district and Thamada Lokanadham from Srikakulam district. They were among the 45 Indians who perished in the fire at a seven-storey building in Mangaf, Ahmadi Governorate. The accident also left 33 others injured.
Ministers from the respective districts will distribute the relief cheques to the bereaved families. The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) is coordinating with the Joint Secretary of the Gulf Division, Ministry of External Affairs, and AP Bhawan to support the families in repatriating the mortal remains of the deceased.
The mortal remains are scheduled to be flown to Visakhapatnam on June 15. The Department of Protocol will facilitate the transition of the remains at Hyderabad airport for onward transportation. The district administration of Visakhapatnam will receive the remains at the airport, and district officials from East Godavari and Srikakulam will ensure their smooth transportation to the respective districts.
