Hyderabad: A troubling health trend is emerging in Hyderabad, with a sharp rise in strokes among young adults. Medical experts are sounding the alarm, emphasizing the urgent need for early rehabilitation to prevent long-term disabilities and improve recovery outcomes.
HCAH Hyderabad, the city’s first provider with a dedicated Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) team, hosted a roundtable discussion to address the growing crisis. Experts revealed that one in seven stroke patients in Hyderabad falls within the 25 to 45 age group, making it a significant public health concern.

Experts Stress Early Intervention
Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, Chief Neurosurgeon at KIMS Sunshine Hospitals, warned that delayed rehabilitation could lead to devastating, life-altering consequences. “Early intervention is crucial for stroke survivors to regain independence and avoid permanent disability,” he said.
Dr. Aastik Bhatt, a neuro-rehabilitation specialist at HCAH Hyderabad, highlighted the role of AI-powered rehabilitation tools and personalized therapy plans in accelerating recovery for young stroke patients.

HCAH Co-founder and COO Dr. Gaurav Thukral stressed the growing demand for accessible rehabilitation services, saying, “With AI-driven recovery programs and robotic rehabilitation solutions, we aim to provide faster and more effective treatment, ensuring young patients regain their independence.”
