The United States has called on India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions following a deadly militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 civilians on April 22. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held separate talks with Indian and Pakistani leaders, urging both sides to maintain peace in the region.
India blames Pakistan for supporting the attackers, a claim Islamabad denies. In response to the attack, India has closed its airspace to Pakistani aircraft and suspended key bilateral agreements. With military buildups and diplomatic retaliation intensifying, the US is pushing both nations to avoid further escalation.
