U.S. Now Demands Biometrics, Home Addresses for H-1B Applicants in A First

In a move that has surprised many, U.S. immigration authorities have begun requesting home addresses and biometric data from individuals applying for H-1B visas and employment-based green cards. These details are being sought through Requests for Evidence (RFEs), which are normally issued when a petition lacks sufficient documentation. While RFEs are a standard part of the process, immigration attorneys say that asking for biometrics and home addresses at this stage is “highly unusual.” This added scrutiny could lead to delays or added hurdles for thousands of applicants, many of whom are Indian IT professionals.
