Three new rules by ICC coming into effect from June 2023
The Cricket Administration governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced new set of rules that will take effect from June 1st. These rules are recommended by the Men’s Cricket Committee led by Saurav Ganguly and Women’s Cricket Committee as well.
The three new rules recommended by the committee are
1. The umpires are no longer required to give soft signals when recommending something to the TV umpires. Currently, Umpires used to give out or not out as the soft signal as their recommendation. With the current rule, the third umpire can give their decision without any prejudice.
2. Fielders in close positions to the batsman and the batsman facing fast bowlers should wear a helmet compulsarily. Wicketkeeper standing up to the wickets for a fast bowler should wear a helmet as well.
3. If the batter gets bowled on a free-hit, he/she can continue to take runs and these will br counted as the runs taken by the batter.
These rules will come into play starting June 1st.
