Amid rising tensions with India, authorities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have closed over 1,000 religious schools for 10 days, citing fears of potential military conflict. Locals near the Line of Control (LoC) are building underground bunkers as a precaution, with about 1.5 million people living in the high-risk zone.
Emergency drills have begun in schools, and residents are on high alert. “We’ve been living in constant fear for a week,” said shopkeeper Iftikhar Ahmad Mir, as children are being trained in basic first aid and emergency response.
