The Telangana government has proposed to develop a 2,000-acre eco park on the land near the University of Hyderabad (UoH) in Gachibowli. The plan includes building the world’s tallest watchtower and creating a green space for the city. However, sources say that the government may relocate UoH and include its land in the eco park project.

This comes at a time when the state is locked in a legal dispute over 400 acres of land near the university. UoH students have rejected the proposal, claiming it is a diversion from the ongoing court case over the land ownership. They argue that the land rightfully belongs to the university, while the state government claims it is under its possession.

A senior official from UoH declined to comment on the proposal, citing the ongoing legal proceedings in the Telangana High Court and the Supreme Court. To resolve the issue, the state government has formed a committee of ministers to consult with the UoH executive committee, students, and other stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police have imposed entry restrictions on the disputed land until April 16 to ensure peace and security
