Telangana Day or Telangana formation day is celebrated every year on June 2nd. Telangana government announced a public holiday on this day which is celebrated to commemorate the formation of the Telangana State. The state was formed after many fights and sacrifices. It was formed on June 2nd, 2014 and Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao is the first Chief Minister of Telangana. Since then he is continuing to serve the state.
The demand for a separate state of Telangana was since many decades back. Telangana Rashtra Samithi was formed for the same purpose. Telangana’s separate state formation gained momentum in the early 2000s which was followed by rallies, protests, and sacrifices which includes lives as well. On July 30, 2013, the Parliament of India passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 which made it way for the separate Telangana state.
Telangana formation day is celebrated with great valor. On this day, Telangana people remember the fighters who sacrificed their lives for the separate state. Special programs and initiatives will be conducted and celebrated.
