The Telangana government is set to distribute sanna biyyam (fine rice) to ration card holders as part of the Ugadi festival celebrations. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the scheme in Huzurnagar at 6 PM on the evening of Ugadi, which falls on March 25. Starting April 1, all ration shops across the state will begin distributing the fine rice.
The scheme will benefit 2.82 crore people across the state, with distribution taking place through the extensive public distribution system (PDS). Currently, ration shops are providing regular rice, but this initiative will offer better-quality fine rice to the people.
This move is seen as a special gesture by the government to mark the Ugadi festival and to support families in celebrating the occasion.
