In his will, Ratan Tata, the legendary industrialist who passed away in October 2024, has left over ₹3 crore to his home and office staff, recognizing their years of dedicated service. According to the Times of India, Tata instructed the executors of his will to distribute ₹15 lakh from his estate to domestic staff members who had been with him for seven or more years, with amounts based on their years of service.

Among the special bequests, Tata left ₹1 crore to his longtime cook, Rajan Shaw, which included a ₹51 lakh loan waiver. His butler, Subbaiah Konar, will receive ₹66 lakh, including a ₹36 lakh loan waiver, while his secretary, Delnaz Gilder, is bequeathed ₹10 lakh. Tata also waived off a ₹1 crore loan to his executive assistant, Shantanu Naidu, for his MBA at Cornell University.

Tata’s love for animals was also evident in his will, where he allocated ₹12 lakh for his German Shepherd, Tito, with ₹30,000 to be disbursed quarterly for his care.

In keeping with his philanthropic legacy, Tata directed that his clothes be donated to NGOs for distribution among the underprivileged. His estate, worth ₹3,800 crore, has largely been endowed to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation and Trust. Tata’s gesture of generosity towards his longtime staff members has left a lasting impact, reflecting his deep respect and gratitude for those who supported him.
