A pre-school administrator from Bengaluru has been arrested for extorting a businessman of ₹17 lakh and demanding ₹50 lakh by threatening to delete their chat conversations. The accused, identified as Sridevi, runs a pre-school in the Mahalaxmi Society area of Bengaluru.
In 2023, the businessman enrolled his children in Sridevi’s school, after which she borrowed ₹2 lakh from him for school expenses. Over time, their friendship strengthened, and Sridevi began demanding ₹50,000 for a kiss, exploiting the situation. When the businessman asked her to return the money, she proposed other demands, leading him to agree to a live-in relationship, for which Sridevi collected ₹15 lakh.
In February, Sridevi once again demanded money, and when the businessman started distancing himself from her, she escalated her threats. On March 12, Sridevi called the businessman’s wife, asking him to come for their children’s transfer certificates (TC), where he was met by rowdy elements from Bijapur, Ganesh Kalle and Sagar, who threatened him. They demanded ₹20 lakh for his safety and took ₹1.90 lakh as an advance.
On March 17, Sridevi called the businessman and threatened to delete their chats if he did not pay ₹50 lakh. Frustrated, the businessman filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police. Following the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Sridevi along with the two rowdy elements. The incident has caused a stir in the local community.
