In a major intervention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to personally review the progress of the Polavaram project, Andhra Pradesh’s lifeline. Amid rising concerns from neighboring states, Modi will hold a high-level video conference with the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh on May 28 at 3:30 PM.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai will join the meeting along with water resources ministers and senior officials. The PMO has formally informed Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy about the review. With construction responsibilities resting on Andhra Pradesh since 2014, and national status granted under the AP Reorganization Act, this marks Modi’s first direct review — a move seen as critical to resolving inter-state disputes and expediting project completion by 2027.
