Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his scheduled visit to Russia for the Victory Day celebrations on May 9, citing the prevailing global situation.
Modi was officially invited by the Russian government to attend the annual Victory Day event, which commemorates the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. However, due to current geopolitical circumstances and strategic considerations, the Indian government has decided not to proceed with the Prime Minister’s participation.
Instead, India will send a representative delegation to attend the event, maintaining diplomatic presence while adjusting to the evolving international context.
The decision comes at a time of heightened global tensions, and officials emphasized that the move is part of India’s broader diplomatic strategy.
