Court suspends non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has granted police permission to conduct polygraph and photogrammetric tests on jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with 12 terrorism cases linked to the May 9, 2023 violence. The tests, to be conducted within 12 days at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, aim to aid investigations into attacks on military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commander House and GHQ.

Khan’s lawyer opposed the move, calling it unnecessary as the PTI chief has already recorded statements and received bail in related cases. The court, however, sided with the prosecution, citing investigative requirements. Khan, imprisoned since August 2023, has refused to undergo testing without his lawyer present. PTI Chairman Gohar Khan dismissed rumours of a deal with the government, stating any such claims were baseless.
