On April 22, 2025, a brutal terror attack shook the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Militants opened fire on a group of tourists at the scenic Baisaran meadow, killing at least 28 people and injuring over 20 others. Among the victims were 24 Indian nationals, two locals, and two foreign tourists from Nepal and the UAE.
The attackers are suspected to be linked to The Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-based terror group. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen targeted non-Muslims and demanded people recite Islamic verses before shooting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack and promised strict action. Home Minister Amit Shah visited Srinagar to review the situation, while security forces have launched a massive manhunt for the culprits.
