Experts have confirmed that the recent SLBC tunnel collapse was caused by water from the Mallelatheertham waterfall. The water seeped into the tunnel, weakening its roof and leading to the accident. Investigations revealed that nearly 3,000 liters of water per minute flowed into the tunnel, not from the Srisailam reservoir, but from the waterfall. This incident is similar to how the Devadula project was once flooded by seasonal streams. Authorities are now assessing ways to prevent such issues in the future.
