The Justice P C Ghose Commission, investigating alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), has issued a notice to former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), directing him to appear before the panel on June 5. Notices were also sent to former irrigation minister T Harish Rao and ex-finance minister Etela Rajender, summoning them on June 6 and June 9, respectively.
The project, initiated under the BRS government in 2019, has come under scrutiny after structural issues emerged at one of its major barrages. The current Congress government referred the matter to the National Dam Safety Authority, whose report reportedly indicated construction flaws. BRS leaders have dismissed the inquiry as politically motivated, with KCR’s daughter, K Kavitha, calling it an attempt to discredit a leader who championed Telangana’s development.
