Canada granted citizenship to 374,832 individuals in 2024, with Indian nationals leading the list at 87,812, accounting for 23.43% of the total. This marks a steady rise from 78,714 Indian recipients in 2023, reflecting the increasing integration of Indian immigrants into Canadian society and their long-term commitment to the country.
While the overall number of new Canadian citizens saw a slight dip compared to the previous year, the continued dominance of Indian applicants underscores Canada’s appeal as a preferred destination for skilled migrants and students from India. Other top countries contributing to Canada’s new citizen pool include the Philippines, China, Nigeria, and Pakistan, showing a diverse and evolving immigration landscape. The trend also aligns with Canada’s growing economic ties and educational exchanges with India.
