The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has publicly acknowledged that Indian students facing issues with their F-1 student visas in the United States have reached out to Indian missions for assistance. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed during a media briefing on April 17 that the Indian embassy and consulates are in touch with the students to offer support.

This statement comes amidst growing concerns over a series of F-1 visa revocations as part of the Trump administration’s immigration policies, which have impacted many international students, including several from India. Recently, Indian student Chinmay Deore joined a group of international students in suing US immigration authorities over the unexpected cancellation of their visas. The latest lawsuit, filed on April 10 in Michigan, is part of a larger wave of legal challenges against the visa cancellations. In contrast, India had previously stated that two other students, Badar Suri and Ranjani Srinivasan, had not sought help from Indian missions despite facing potential deportation.
