Thursday’s heavy rainfall caused significant disruption across several parts of Hyderabad, with areas like Champapet, Saidabad, Owaisi Chowrasta, Malakpet, and Chaderghat experiencing severe waterlogging. However, the situation was particularly severe under the Malakpet Railway Bridge, where a large amount of rainwater accumulated, causing a major traffic blockade.
The water accumulation under the bridge severely hampered vehicle movement, particularly during the early hours of the day when people were out for work or daily activities. The rainwater made it impossible for vehicles to move forward, resulting in a massive traffic jam on both sides of the bridge. Motorists were stuck for hours, and two-wheeler riders faced immense difficulty navigating through the flooded roads. Some vehicles even got stuck in the water, further worsening the situation.
The rain also caused waterlogging in low-lying areas of the city, with sewage water spilling onto roads, creating additional inconvenience for residents. GHMC officials are working to clear the water, but the ongoing rain and high water flow have delayed efforts. Local authorities have urged commuters to avoid the affected routes and are taking immediate steps to restore traffic flow.
