The Chinese Embassy in India has issued over 85,000 visas to Indian citizens between January 1 and April 9, 2025, signaling a push towards strengthening people-to-people connections between the two nations. Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong welcomed more Indian travelers to visit China and experience its “open, safe, vibrant, sincere and friendly” environment.
The announcement comes amid rising global trade tensions, with U.S. President Donald Trump recently increasing tariffs on Chinese goods. In response, China urged India to join in opposing what it called the “US abuse of tariffs.” Despite geopolitical challenges, China appears keen to deepen its engagement with India, especially through cultural and tourism exchanges.
