Starting in April 2025, the U.S. will implement major changes to its visa interview process for student, work, and tourist visas. Applicants will now need to ensure that their DS-160 barcode matches the one used to schedule their interview, or risk delays and additional fees. Additionally, all supporting documents must be uploaded via the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) portal at least 72 hours before the interview.
Other updates include stricter scrutiny, requiring applicants to provide travel history, social media activity, and more proof of ties to their home country. These changes are aimed at streamlining the process but may significantly impact applicants, so careful preparation is essential.
