Amaravati: In 2024, N Chandrababu Naidu marked a dramatic political comeback, securing a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh’s assembly elections.

After enduring major setbacks, including a defeat in 2019 and a 53-day jail stint linked to a financial scam, Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) allied with the BJP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) to form the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This alliance swept the elections, winning 164 of the 175 seats, and Chandrababu Naidu returned to power as Chief Minister for the fourth time.

Chandrababu Naidu’s victory came despite YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s earlier slogan of “Why Not 175?” which failed in the face of Chandrababu Naidu’s resilient campaign. Key issues during his tenure include the revival of major projects like Amaravati and Polavaram, financial constraints, and welfare initiatives, such as increased pensions for citizens.

However, the year was not without controversies, including an alleged scandal involving the sacred Tirumala laddu and disputes within the YSRCP. Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu’s quick response to the devastating Krishna River floods earned him praise for his leadership.

As Chandrababu Naidu leads Andhra Pradesh into a new phase, the political dynamics continue to evolve, with both challenges and opportunities ahead.
