Bichagadu 2 movie review – Not so convincing sequel

Cast: Vijay Antony, Kavya Thapar

Director: Vijay Antony

Producer: Fatima Vijay Antony

Music: Vijay Antony

Bichagadu which was released amid low expectations turned out to be a gigantic hit. Now, after all these years, a sequel to the film has been released. Directed and acted by Vijay Antony, let us have a look at how this movie is.

Story:

Vijay Gurumoorthy and Satya are lookalikes. While Vijay is a multi-millionaire, Satya is a beggar. Under some strange circumstances, Vijay and Satya interchange their positions. While Vijay’s friends have a conspiracy behind this, Satya has his own goals and agendas.

How will this move end up for both Vijay and Satya? What happens in the end?

Performances:

Vijay Antony has performed both characters with ease. While the majority of the portions are fine, Vijay Antony failed to deliver his best at the end during the emotional sequences. It comes as a major drawback.

Kavya Thapar plays the female lead in the movie. She hasn’t had much significance in the movie. She looks good in whatever she was offered though. Dev Gill, Radha Ravi, Harish Peradi, John Vijay and Yogi Babu, etc.., were seen in important roles but had nothing much to do with as Bichagadu 2 is all about Vijay Antony.

Technicalities:

Vijay Antony himself has provided music for the film. It is another minus for the flick. None of the songs register. However, the background score is far better. Om Narayan’s cinematography work is adequate. The VFX work is poor, and some graphics look very tacky.

The writing is decent in parts. However, one could feel that the message was not delivered properly. The lack of Telugu nativity works against the movie as well.

Analysis:

Bichagadu 2 doesn’t live up to the hype of the first installment. Neither the sentiment nor the strong emotions worked in the sequel as the first part. Though the movie starts in a positive way, things will not go as expected and slowly the experience dilutes. The climax is wayward.

Bichagadu 2 is a sequel that is far distant from the first part. Can easily give a skip.
