New Jersey: Bathukamma, the vibrant festival celebrating Telangana’s culture, has now reached international shores. In New Jersey, the Telangana Association organized grand celebrations, bringing together hundreds of Telugu women in traditional attire.
The festivities began with women decorating their Bathukammas using local flowers, showcasing their connection to Telangana’s traditions, even far from home.
In the afternoon, participants enjoyed a delicious feast before gathering for the main event in the evening. Dressed in beautiful traditional outfits, women and young girls danced gracefully around the Bathukammas, singing traditional songs. The two-hour-long celebrations ended with the immersion of the Bathukammas in a nearby lake.
This event highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage, even while living abroad. The festival also brought a sense of community, reminding everyone of their roots and traditions as they prayed for happiness and well-being.
Bathukamma’s global presence continues to grow, reflecting the rich cultural legacy of Telangana.
