Baloch nationalist leaders have issued a symbolic declaration of independence from Pakistan, reigniting tensions in the troubled province of Balochistan. Activist Mir Yar Baloch announced the formation of a “Republic of Balochistan” on social media, appealing to India for diplomatic recognition and to the UN for support in establishing state infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for 71 coordinated attacks across the province, targeting Pakistani military and infrastructure under “Operation Herof.” The group rejected ceasefire talks and warned of rising instability in South Asia. The declaration, though lacking international recognition, has drawn global attention to Balochistan’s long-standing grievances and Pakistan’s handling of the separatist movement.
