The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a welfare initiative to support both land-owning and tenant farmers in the state. Under the ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme, farmers who lease land for cultivation, even without ownership rights, will now be eligible for financial aid. The scheme offers ₹20,000 annually to each eligible farming family, including ₹6,000 from the PM-Kisan Yojana, transferred in three installments. The government also extended benefits to farmers with land rights certificates under the Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR) scheme. To implement this, officials have been tasked with verifying beneficiary lists at the field level, which must be uploaded by May 20. However, the scheme excludes economically affluent individuals, government employees, and professionals, among others.
