The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the allocation of 21.16 acres of land in Visakhapatnam to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) at a token lease price of 99 paise. TCS plans to invest ₹1,370 crore to establish an IT development centre on this land, which is expected to generate approximately 12,000 jobs.
The land is located at IT Hill Number 3 in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam. This initiative is part of the state’s broader strategy to transform Visakhapatnam into a major technology hub. The decision follows IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s engagement with TCS executives in October 2024, where he advocated for the company’s expansion into Andhra Pradesh.
Officials indicate that while the permanent facility will take about two years to construct, TCS will commence operations from a rented location in the interim. This move is seen as a significant step towards attracting further IT investments to the region.
