A total of 476 students and residents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been evacuated from Jammu and Kashmir and other border areas following the recent military tensions between India and Pakistan. The Andhra Pradesh government reported that 350 students have reached the national capital, with 100 arriving today. The state has set up a 24×7 control room in Delhi to assist evacuees.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government confirmed that 126 individuals, including students from NIT Srinagar and Sher-e-Kashmir University, have arrived at Telangana Bhawan. Both state bhavans are providing free food, lodging, medical aid, and transportation to the evacuees, in coordination with district authorities and central agencies.

The evacuation follows a May 10 agreement between India and Pakistan to cease military actions after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April.
