There are many famous Ganesh temples in the Telugu States and out of them Bikkavolu Lakshmi Ganapathi temple in Bikkavolu of East Godavari district stands special. It is a monolithic statue and is known as Vijayanand Ganapathi. It is also said that the idol increases in size year by year. The specialty of this idol is that the trunk of the lord is turned towards the right where usually we see it towards the left. The main deity in this temple is around 7 feet tall
It is a huge belief that Ganesh will fulfill the honest desires of his devotees if whispered in the ear of the idol. As per the history of the temple during 849 AD – 892 AD, the temple was installed by the Chalukya Kings of the eastern region.
As per the folklore, King Gunaga Vijayaditya used to offer prayers to this idol before and after his every battle. It is said that Gunaga Vijayaditya won so many battles.
Bikkavolu is located nearly between Kakinada and Rajahmundry, two major cities in East Godavari.
