Hospet: Partial gate components have arrived at the Tungabhadra Dam in Hospet. More are expected to arrive on August 15 night.
On the 10th of this month, Gate No. 19 broke off due to heavy inflow and was washed away. As a result, 45 TMC of water has been wasted downstream over the past six days. In response, temporary gate installation efforts are underway.
With the initiative of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, experts including Kannaiah Naidu have been brought in to oversee the installation.
The Tungabhadra Board officials have prepared the heavy gate in five sections to facilitate the temporary setup.
