Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed Parliament on May 28th, says the official information. The new Parliament which was a four-storey building has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹970 crore. Tata Projects Limited has designed the construction.
As per the official data, the new Parliament will have a seating capacity of 888 for the Lok Sabha when compared to the 543 in the old Parliament building and 300 in Rajya Sabha as against 250 in the old Parliament.
The new Parliament will be inaugurated just two days after Narendra Modi’s government took the oath of office in his first term on May 26, 2014. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and invited him to inaugurate the New Parliament Building.
Lok Sabha secretariat said in a statement that the new building symbolizes the spirit of self. The monsoon sessions will be held in the new Parliament building later this year.
