An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 hit Japan on the first day of the New Year. This magnitude prompted the officials to raise a Tsunami warning. The earthquake prompted the public to run for their lives and intense infrastructure damage.

The MET department issued Tsunami warnings along the coastal regions of Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama. As per the latest update, Japan has lowered the highest-level Tsunami alert but still urges the residents of the coastal homes not to go to their homes as deadly waves could still attack the shore.

Shortly after 4 PM, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported more than a dozen quakes in the Japan Sea off the coast of Ishikawa and nearby prefectures.

Government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi said that a fire broke out in Wajima City Ishikawa Prefecture, and almost 30K households are not with power currently. More updates regarding the earthquakes and Tsunami warning will be out soon.
